I am not talking about the gritty Scottish police drama starring Marc McManus as Det Insp Taggart.
No. I'm talking about the gritty New Zealand police drama starring Bill Johnson as Det Insp Taggart.
I found reference to this in the NZ Listener. On the 31st of March 1975 an episode of "Taggart" screened, on BCNZ's television channel (there was only one channel then)
It is billed thus:
Taggart (c) Police crime drama We Don't Take Them Like That Anymore, by Keith Aberdein: Taggart finds a hit-and-run case is anything but routine. When the victim is the nephew of a senior member of the Uniform Branch. Solve a crime or prevent a vendetta - or both. These are Taggart's choices.
Det. Insp. Taggart --- BILL JOHNSON Sgt. Denby ------------ IAN MUNE PW Wendy Johns ---- LOUISE PAJO Sen. Sgt. Walker ----- EDDIE HEGAN Director, Donald Hope-Evans Producer, Brian Eade
Does anyone know if there is any connection between this programme and the later Scottish show? This reads like it's part of a series but I found no other references in sunsequent issues so assume if it was a series it was occasional rather than a serial?
There's also a picture of Johnson and Mune in their roles (looking gritty and police-like). I can scan it if anyone's interested.
